Kendal Port Development
|
Seaport in collaboration with a local consulting engineer undertook a pre-feasibility study to identify if there was an economic and commercial case for developing a port at Kendal in Central Java. The province is served at present by the port of Semarang which has capacity and congestion issues; it also has major flooding and ground settlement problems. The study investigated the market for port services in the province. It identified an outline master plan for the development of Kendal Port from a local ferry port into a major international port with container, bulk and liquid bulk facilities. The study concluded by examining the commercial and economic benefits of the port. The study showed that there was a case for the development and it recommended an action plan to progress the development.
