Bid to Acquire Container Terminal Company, Vancouver, Canada, 2002

The Province of British Columbia instructed BC Rail, a provincial Crown corporation, to divest BCR Marine, a division that comprised primarily a bulk terminal and a container terminal in the Port of Vancouver. Seaport Consultants Canada Inc. provided expert advice and assistance to International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) in its bid to acquire the privatized container terminal. Seaport’s services included strategic and marketing advice regarding container terminal operations in the Port of Vancouver, establishment of contacts for the international terminal operating company, reviews of confidential information memoranda and other data, and assistance with preparation of bid documents.  Seaport also estimated operating and equipment capital costs for the terminal, developed a financial model of the terminal and provided indicative estimates of its value.

Seaport’s work included:

  • Reviews and evaluations of Confidential Information Memoranda and information in data room

  • Estimates of equipment needs and operating costs

  • Provision of indicative measures of the value of the company
