Container Terminal Planning and Design
Container terminal planning and design is the specialty of Seaport Innovations and Seaport Consultants Canada Inc.
Seaport's container terminal planning ties in closely with our expertise in operational evaluations and container terminal automation, technology and operations IT systems. We develop container terminal plans that match the traffic volumes and characteristics of the port and the constraints of the port water and land areas. We also adapt the container terminal plans to match local labor costs and work practices with the level of technology appropriate for the terminal and its region.
Seaport's container terminal planning work extends to the development of physical and performance specifications for new and existing terminals. We do not, however, provide detailed engineering design services.
Seaport has the expertise to conduct cost-benefit analyses for implementation of process redesigns which give a significant cost reduction.
Our work includes:
Development of master plans
Design of terminal layout and terminal logistics
Design of operating procedures
Gate design
Rail handling design
Writing of specifications
Project management
