Reengineering and Organizations Redesign, Port of Gothenburg, Sweden, 2007 – 2008

Seaport Innovations optimized and reengineered the business processes and procedures for the container terminal in Port of Gothenburg (www.portgot.se) in connection with a large terminal operating system (TOS) implementation project. The challenge was to ensure that all business changes were well thought through and implemented in all parts of the organization. In the reengineering process Seaport Innovations:

  • Identified possibilities for introducing international best practice

  • Designing To-Be processes

  • Identifying organizational changes, and

  • Reducing the required manning and equipment

Seaport Innovations was additionally requested to advise on redesigning the Operations Department, provide Job Descriptions and SOPs. Seaport Innovations:

  • Developed an organization setup that will allow Port of Gothenburg to operate at a high performance level

  • Developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) according to International Best Practice

  • Developed Job Descriptions (JDs) for the function affected by the business changes
