Seaport Innovations

Seaport Innovations specializes in container and ro/ro terminals for seaports and inland terminals. Our main areas of focus include terminal planning and design, project management and project implementation.  Seaport Innovations also performs financial and cost modelling, analyzes and recommends operational improvements, and develops terminal cost cutting and organisational strategies.

We focus on terminal planning and design (Design for Efficiency), automated terminals, layout designs and terminal logistics.  We develop master plans and provide advice on handling technologies and terminal operations.  Seaport Innovations also performs cost analysis and financial modeling of container and ro/ro terminals.   We also provide support to legal professionals on all aspects of container terminal operations.

An important aspect of Seaport Innovations’ practice is the procurement and implementation of terminal IT and operating systems.  This ranges from software selection, equipment procurement to implementation and “go live” planning and oversight.

Seaport Innovations develops container handling equipment specifications that are appropriate for a given terminal, be this use of rubber-tired gantries (RTGs), straddle carriers (SCs), and reach stackers, as well as empty container handlers, trucks and chassis fleets.

For new or established terminals, we frequently conduct analysis to optimize management organization, operating procedures and work practices.  We establish appropriate industry benchmarking and key performance indicators (KPIs) for labor, equipment, and terminal processes.
